Outcomes and Evaluation
How do we know that our approach works? We monitor outcomes for all of our counselling clients by using the CORE (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation) Information Management System. CORE is a leader in the field of outcome measurement in mental health and psychological therapies. It provides a validated and reliable outcome measurement and is used comprehensively within the NHS and independent practice.
CORE is a client questionnaire designed to be completed at the start, and on completion of counselling. The client is asked to respond to 34 questions about how they have been feeling over the last week, using a 5-point scale ranging from 'not at all' to 'most or all of the time'. The 34 items of the measure cover four dimensions:
- Subjective well-being
- Problems/symptoms
- Life functioning
- Risk/harm
Using CORE at the start of counselling can help highlight areas for us to focus on in the work with you. Repeating CORE on completion of our time together gives a tangible way of measuring the changes that have taken place during counselling.
We ensure that we always share and discuss your individual outcome measures with you. Please go to the CORE Information Management System website for further details: www.coreims.co.uk
